Heartbeat Community Services was established in 1985 by a group of Non-denominational Christians concerned by the lack of alternatives to abortion in Perry and Juniata Counties. The founders desired to open a crisis pregnancy center, provide resources to pregnant mothers and to be a source of information for the community on the issues of pro-life.
Heartbeat never advises, refers or provides for abortions.
Heartbeat is committed to providing whatever support necessary so that mothers may carry their babies to term.
Heartbeat can offer these services because volunteers give of their time, donations are made by people who care and generous financial gifts are given by churches and individuals.
Project Women In Need
Heartbeat Community Services is a participant in Project Women In Need (WIN), a contractor with the Department of Public Welfare of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This project networks independent organizations that provide alternatives to abortion services. Heartbeat benefits from the program by receiving education literature for distribution; educational videos and models for counselors and speakers; training opportunities for Heartbeat volunteers; and monetary reimbursement for services provided to low income clients. As a participant in Project WIN, Heartbeat is monitered annually by the project's administration to ensure the quality of services and management of the center.
The phone number for Project WIN is 888-LIFE AID (888-543-3243).
